COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus community is mourning the tragic loss of 15-year-old Anthony Johnson, who was fatally shot Friday afternoon in the Georgian Heights neighborhood on the city’s west side.
According to the Columbus Division of Police, officers were dispatched just before 3:45 p.m. to the 600 block of Raleigh Drive following reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they found Johnson suffering from at least one gunshot wound. First responders immediately rendered aid before transporting him to a nearby hospital. Despite efforts to save his life, he was pronounced dead at 4:40 p.m.
Police have since arrested 19-year-old Jordan Austin, who is now facing a murder charge in connection with Johnson’s death. Court records show Austin was taken into custody on Saturday without incident. He is scheduled to appear in court for arraignment on Monday morning at 9 a.m.
