Young Man Beaten to Death After Road Accident in Baksa District Sparks Outrage

BAKSA DISTRICT, Assam — A tragic incident in Baksa district’s Bogamati left the community in shock after a young man, Abhishek Das, lost his life following a brutal assault on August 20, 2025. Abhishek, who was returning from Bogamati’s Grassland along with three friends, became the victim of a violent attack after a road accident at Bharali Chowk.

According to eyewitnesses and family members, the group’s car collided with a roadside shop pillar while trying to avoid hitting an e-rickshaw, causing the vehicle’s doors to jam. Demonstrating remarkable presence of mind, Abhishek managed to climb out of the car through the sunroof. However, instead of receiving assistance, he was allegedly confronted by the e-rickshaw owner and the shop owner, who began assaulting him. The situation quickly escalated into a violent attack. Abhishek was dragged nearly 50 feet from the crash site and struck on the neck with a rod, leaving him critically injured.

Family members reported that they were informed of the incident almost an hour later. Abhishek’s father rushed to the scene, but due to the long distance to the nearest hospital and the delayed arrival of an ambulance, he succumbed to his injuries en route. The other youths traveling with him were reportedly attacked as well, sustaining injuries in the process.

The incident has ignited anger and grief in the local community. Residents and Abhishek’s family have demanded a thorough and transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death. They are calling for swift and strict action against those responsible for the assault, emphasizing that such acts of violence must not go unpunished.

Authorities have confirmed that a case has been registered, and investigations are underway. Police are reportedly reviewing eyewitness accounts and other evidence to identify and apprehend all parties involved in the attack.

This shocking event has brought renewed attention to issues of road safety, public violence, and the need for timely medical intervention in rural areas. As Baksa district mourns the loss of a young life, the community continues to seek justice for Abhishek Das, whose death has left an indelible mark on his family, friends, and neighbors.
