Minneapolis, MN — A shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in south Minneapolis early Wednesday morning has left two children dead and 17 others injured, police confirmed.
Authorities identified the shooter as 22-year-old Robin Westman, who began firing from outside the church while students and parishioners were attending morning Mass. Westman later entered the building and took his own life at the rear of the church.
Emergency responders arrived within minutes, securing the scene and providing medical assistance to the victims. Injured individuals were transported to nearby hospitals, several in serious condition.
Police confirmed that Westman acted alone. Investigators are reviewing his background and any possible connections to the church or school, though no motive has yet been determined.
The shooting has left the Annunciation Catholic community in shock. City officials and church leaders are urging residents to support the families affected and to take advantage of counseling services being provided to students, staff, and parishioners.
“This is a heartbreaking tragedy for our community,” a local official said. “We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the victims and everyone impacted by this senseless act.”
Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting and have asked the public to respect the privacy of those affected.
