A woman whose life was defined by faith, resilience, and love, Kim’s impact extended far beyond her family, touching students, teammates, friends, and neighbors throughout her life.
Born January 10, 1969, in Bremen, Indiana, to Robert and Sue (Welch) Hickman, Kim displayed determination, energy, and a love for life from an early age. She excelled in athletics, graduating from Bremen High School in 1987 as a standout three-sport athlete in volleyball, basketball, and tennis, earning a place in the Bremen High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
Kim continued her athletic and academic pursuits at Huntington University, where she competed in tennis, basketball, and softball while earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1991. She furthered her education with a Master’s Degree in Education from Olivet Nazarene University, demonstrating her lifelong commitment to learning and growth.
On August 13, 1994, Kim married Norm Sellers in Bremen. Together, they built a loving life in Bremen and later Wakarusa, raising three sons: Trent, Chad, and Kyle, whom she supported in every aspect of their academic, athletic, and personal lives. Family was Kim’s greatest joy, and she was a constant source of encouragement, love, and guidance.
Professionally, Kim devoted herself to teaching 4th grade at Bremen Public Schools, where her patience, warmth, and enthusiasm left a lasting mark on generations of students. Colleagues remember her as an educator who inspired confidence, curiosity, and kindness in every child.
Outside of work, Kim treasured life’s simple joys. She loved the beach, cherished ski trips to Northern Michigan, and found creative expression in art and pottery. She also adored her beloved dogs, Wrigley and River, who brought her comfort and companionship.
Kim is survived by her husband of 31 years, Norm Sellers; her sons: Trent (Alexis Houk) Sellers of Wakarusa, Chad (Kylie) Sellers of Carmel, IN, and Kyle Sellers of Wakarusa; her brother, Dr. Kevin (Heidi) Hickman of Bremen; and three nephews: Dawson, Camden, and Maddux Hickman. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Sue Hickman.
