Daniel Kundrat Motorcycle Accident; 24-Year-Old North Heidelberg Township Man Killed in Tragic Motorcycle Crash on Route 422


A tragic accident in the early hours of Wednesday, July 30, has claimed the life of 24-year-old Daniel A. Kundrat, a resident of North Heidelberg Township. The fatal collision took place around 5:30 a.m. along the 6600 block of Penn Avenue (Route 422), near the intersection with Old West Penn Avenue in South Heidelberg Township.

According to the South Heidelberg Township Police Department, Kundrat was traveling eastbound on his motorcycle in the center lane of Route 422 when a sedan heading westbound attempted to make a left turn onto Old West Penn Avenue. The motorcycle collided with the turning sedan, resulting in a violent impact that threw Kundrat from the bike.

Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and immediately attempted life-saving measures. Sadly, Kundrat succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on-site at 6:35 a.m. by Deputy Coroner Holly Stavarski of the Berks County Coroner’s Office.

The cause of death was determined to be hypovolemic shock caused by multiple blunt force injuries, and the manner of death has been officially ruled accidental. Authorities confirmed that an autopsy will not be conducted.

The driver of the sedan remained at the scene and is fully cooperating with the investigation. Police also noted that several witnesses have come forward, providing statements that are helping to piece together the moments leading up to the crash.
