Bjorn Dragsbaek Sherborn, MA Obituary, Cause of Death; Family and Friends Mourn the loss of Franklin Youth Soccer Association Board Member, Bjorn Dragsbaek who Dies Suddenly

With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Bjorn Dragsbaek, a cherished husband, father, mentor, and driving force behind the Franklin Youth Soccer Association (FYSA). His sudden loss has left a deep void not only in the lives of his loved ones but across the entire community of Franklin, Massachusetts, where his influence was far-reaching and deeply felt.

Bjorn’s life was one of quiet leadership, unwavering dedication, and a passion for building strong foundations—not only in youth athletics but in every life he touched. Born and raised in Sherborn, Massachusetts, he graduated from Dover-Sherborn High School before continuing his education at Roger Williams University. Eventually settling in Franklin, Bjorn built a beautiful life with his beloved wife, Lynda, and their three children, Jamie, Laney, and Bryce.

Professionally, Bjorn worked at T-Mobile, where colleagues knew him for his integrity, dedication, and supportive nature. These same qualities would shine even more brightly in his contributions to the local soccer community.

Bjorn was more than just a coach or volunteer—he was the heartbeat of Franklin Youth Soccer. Over the years, he served in many roles: coach, referee, board member, and eventually president of FYSA. In each capacity, he gave of himself tirelessly, committed to creating an environment where every child felt valued, encouraged, and empowered.

His coaching philosophy extended well beyond the scoreboard. Bjorn focused on building character, confidence, and connection. He had an extraordinary ability to see potential in every player—whether a star striker or a hesitant beginner—and he nurtured that potential with patience and care.

As a referee and mentor, Bjorn stood out for his calm demeanor and deep sense of fairness. He didn’t just enforce the rules—he used the game as a teaching tool. His guidance, particularly to young referees, left a lasting impact, with many citing him as the reason they pursued officiating with confidence and purpose. He was known for arriving early, staying late, and always being available to offer advice, encouragement, or just a listening ear.

Bjorn’s leadership on the FYSA Board helped shape the future of youth soccer in Franklin. He championed policies and programs that ensured the game was inclusive, equitable, and accessible to all children. He wasn’t in it for the spotlight—he was the kind of leader who simply showed up, time after time, making a difference through action, not accolades.

But above all, Bjorn’s proudest role was that of a family man. He adored his wife and children, who were the center of his world. His love for them was evident in everything he did, and his legacy lives on through them—and through the countless lives he influenced in the community.

As the Franklin community grapples with this immense loss, Bjorn’s spirit will undoubtedly live on. It will echo in every youth soccer match, every encouraging sideline conversation, and every young player who feels seen and supported.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Dragsbaek family during this deeply difficult time. In the days ahead, information regarding memorial services and ways to support the family will be shared with the community.

Rest in peace, Bjorn. Your legacy endures—in every goal scored, every lesson learned, and every life touched by your presence.
