The Village of Glencoe is mourning the devastating loss of Daniella V. Weisman, a 48-year-old wife, mother, and cherished community member, who tragically died alongside her dog after being struck by a Metra train on Saturday morning, September 6, 2025.
The Accident
According to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office, the fatal incident occurred around 9:35 a.m. at the Maple Hill Road crossing along the Union Pacific North Railroad line near Green Bay Road. Emergency responders from Glencoe Public Safety arrived within minutes after receiving reports of a pedestrian being struck by a southbound train.
Investigators say Daniella had been crossing the tracks westbound with her dog when the train approached. Despite the train crew’s attempts, she was struck and pronounced deceased at the scene. Her dog also lost its life in the accident.
Train service and nearby vehicular traffic were temporarily disrupted as first responders secured the area, but operations resumed by midday Saturday. The Metra Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
