Desert Hot Springs, California – The Riverside County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of a deadly crash that occurred Monday afternoon, September 8, 2025, along Interstate 10 near the Indian Canyon Drive off-ramp as 47-year-old Alvin Cunningham of Menifee.
The Tragic Accident
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the crash was reported at approximately 1:45 p.m. when Cunningham’s vehicle suddenly exited the off-ramp for reasons still under investigation. The car collided with the barrier wall before erupting into flames.
First responders arrived to find the vehicle engulfed in fire. Despite the efforts of emergency crews, Cunningham sustained multiple major traumatic injuries in addition to burn-related injuries. Reports indicate that he was pulled from the wreckage and rushed to a trauma center, but sadly, he was pronounced dead about an hour later.
