With profound sorrow, the family and friends of Keegan Michael Walborn share the heartbreaking news of his sudden passing on July 30, 2025, at the age of 20. Though his time here was far too short, Keegan’s life was filled with remarkable depth, endless compassion, and an unwavering sense of purpose.

A proud resident of Maumee, Ohio, Keegan was a bright and driven young man whose heart was deeply connected to the natural world. From an early age, he found joy in the outdoors—exploring, observing, and cherishing animals and the environment with an eye for beauty where others may not have looked. This lifelong passion led him to pursue a degree in Environmental Engineering at the University of Toledo, where he was entering his junior year and excelling both in the classroom and the lab as a dedicated research assistant.

Keegan was also employed at the Toledo Zoo, a role that perfectly reflected his love for animals. He often joked about his dream of owning multiple pomeranians, each named after a different type of cheese—just one example of the quirky, imaginative humor that endeared him to so many.

A well-rounded and exceptionally gifted young man, Keegan graduated magna cum laude from Maumee High School. He was a talented athlete, having competed in track and soccer, and a skilled musician, playing the viola in orchestra. But more than any title or achievement, it was Keegan’s quiet strength, kindness, and selflessness that defined him.

Friends describe Keegan as someone who always noticed when others were struggling, stepping in with a kind word, a joke, or simply a listening ear. He had a gift for making people feel seen, valued, and loved. His wit was sharp, his laughter contagious, and his presence comforting.

Outside of school and work, Keegan enjoyed gaming with friends, engaging in meaningful conversations, and building Lego creations—a creative outlet that brought him joy and relaxation. Above all else, Keegan cherished his family. He was a beloved son to Todd and Teresa, a devoted brother to Kelsey, and the heartbeat of a family that created lasting memories through annual adventures. From snorkeling in Cozumel, to hiking the red rocks of Utah, to crab hunting on Block Island, Keegan embraced every place he visited and every person he met with curiosity and warmth. His love for nature translated into a genuine desire to protect and care for the Earth and all its creatures.

Keegan’s legacy is one of empathy, passion, and promise. He touched lives not only through what he did, but through who he was—a bright soul with a gentle heart and a desire to make the world better.

He is deeply missed by his loving parents, Todd and Teresa Walborn, his sister Kelsey, his grandparents Tom and Carol Walborn, and Janet Cisek, along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and his cherished pup, Izzy. Keegan was preceded in death by his baby sister, Kayla, and his grandfather, Duane Cisek—with whom he is now reunited in peace.

• Additional Visitation: Friday, August 8 — 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

• Funeral Service: Friday, August 8 — 11:00 a.m., immediately followed by interment at Resurrection Cemetery.
