LAWRENCEVILLE, VA — A deadly altercation on the night of August 2, 2025, has left a Brunswick County community shaken after a verbal dispute turned violent, resulting in the fatal shooting of 25-year-old Ty’el Daveon Jones. The incident occurred in the Cedar Grove Road area of Lawrenceville and has led to the arrest of a 54-year-old local man now facing a murder charge.
At approximately 11:04 p.m., Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a reported shooting near a residence along Cedar Grove Road. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a male victim—later identified as Ty’el Daveon Jones of Lawrenceville—lying outside the home with a gunshot wound. Emergency personnel responded, but tragically, Jones was pronounced dead at the scene.
Jones, described by those who knew him as energetic, family-oriented, and ambitious, was well known in his community and had deep ties to the Lawrenceville area. His sudden and violent death has left his loved ones devastated and searching for answers.
