The accident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, August 3, around 1 a.m. in the 300 block of Willard Street. Responding officers arrived at the scene to find a vehicle severely damaged and fully engulfed in flames. The Wilmington Fire Department was quick to respond, extinguishing the fire, but sadly, both Johnston and Wallace were pronounced deceased at the scene due to the severity of their injuries.
