Ada Josephine Accident: Layton Community Mourns the Loss of 2-Year-Old Girl

The town of Layton, Utah, is in deep mourning after the tragic death of 2-year-old Ada Josephine, who lost her life on September 5, 2025, in a devastating accident at the Shiny Shell Car Wash on East Church Street. Her passing has left family, friends, and neighbors heartbroken as they struggle to cope with the loss of such a beloved child.

A Tragic Accident

Authorities and relatives shared that Ada had been near the front passenger side of a truck when the vehicle moved forward, the driver unaware of her presence. Emergency responders acted quickly, and she was transported to Primary Children’s Hospital, but despite all efforts, she could not be saved. The sudden loss of someone so young has shaken the entire community.

A Name Rich with Meaning

Ada’s name carried a deep family legacy. Her first name was chosen by her late father, who had always loved it. Her middle name, Josephine, was given in his honor, as it is the feminine form of his middle name, Joseph. This made Ada a living tribute to the father she never had the chance to meet.

Her father had passed away during a Fourth of July family pool party, while Ada’s mother, Angela Hansen, was six months pregnant. From her very beginning, Ada’s life was marked by both profound love and the weight of a family’s earlier grief.

A Cherished Daughter and Sister

Ada leaves behind her devoted mother and three siblings. To them, she was a source of light, laughter, and innocence — a joyful presence who filled their home with love. Though her time on earth was far too short, Ada left an everlasting impact on those closest to her.

Her mother, Angela, a nurse, Army reservist, and single parent, has dedicated her life to serving others. Now, she faces the unimaginable heartbreak of losing her youngest child while remaining a pillar of strength for her surviving children.

Community Support

The Hansen family has been surrounded with an outpouring of compassion and support. A family friend, Georgia Allred, organized a GoFundMe to help Angela lay Ada to rest beside her father. Georgia described Angela as someone who has always given selflessly, both in her profession and her military service. The fundraiser reflects the community’s determination to give back, easing the financial burden while honoring Ada’s memory.

Neighbors, friends, and strangers alike have come forward with prayers, words of comfort, and donations, showing that the family does not face this tragedy alone.

Remembering Ada

Though her life was brief, Ada’s spirit and smile touched everyone around her. She will be remembered as a child full of love, curiosity, and joy — a little girl who deserved the chance to grow and explore the world. Her family now holds onto the memories they shared with her, treasures that will remain forever in their hearts.
