FORT WORTH, Texas — A young woman lost her life and another was injured during a deadly shooting early Sunday morning in Fort Worth. The Fort Worth Police Department has identified the deceased victim as Aliyah Miles. The shooting occurred around 3:45 a.m. in the 1800 block of E. Robert Street, at an apartment complex on the city’s east side.
Responding to a call of shots fired, officers arrived at the scene to find Aliyah Miles suffering from multiple gunshot wounds while sitting inside a vehicle. Despite life-saving efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to police, a preliminary investigation indicates that the tragic encounter began when Miles and another woman drove to the complex, allegedly intending to confront a group of women who were already at the location. As the vehicle approached, unidentified suspects opened fire, striking both occupants and riddling the car with bullets.
The driver, who sustained non-fatal injuries, managed to flee the scene along with other individuals involved in the altercation. Not long after, a third individual—believed to be connected to the same shooting—arrived at a nearby hospital seeking treatment for a gunshot wound. The identity and current condition of that person have not yet been released by authorities.
In the aftermath, all suspects reportedly fled the scene, and no arrests have been made as of Sunday evening. Investigators are currently working to determine whether the shooting was premeditated, retaliatory, or spontaneous.
The Fort Worth Police Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation and is conducting interviews, collecting surveillance footage, and processing forensic evidence from the scene.
The motive behind the confrontation remains unclear, and investigators have not confirmed whether any of the women involved knew each other personally. Authorities have also not released details about how many suspects may have been involved or whether the shots were fired from within the group or by an external party.
Community members and family of Aliyah Miles are mourning the sudden loss of a woman described as warm, protective, and full of life. Social media has since been filled with tributes and calls for justice.
Police are urging anyone with information—no matter how small—to come forward to help identify the suspects and piece together the events that led to the fatal shooting.
The investigation is still active and ongoing, and the Fort Worth Police Department has asked the public to call 817-392-4330 or Crime Stoppers if they have any relevant details.
As the search for answers continues, the Fort Worth community finds itself once again grappling with the tragic consequences of gun violence.
