CINNAMINSON, NJ — 77-Year-Old John Howard Hunter Dies in Tragic Farm Accident

A heartbreaking accident at a local Cinnaminson farm has claimed the life of 77-year-old John Howard Hunter, a longtime resident and cherished member of the community. Authorities confirmed the incident occurred late Friday afternoon at a private agricultural property located off Route 130.

According to the Cinnaminson Police Department, emergency crews were dispatched following reports of a man trapped beneath heavy machinery. Investigators say Hunter was performing maintenance work near a tractor when a mechanical malfunction caused the equipment to shift suddenly, pinning him beneath it.

Despite immediate efforts by nearby workers and the rapid arrival of first responders, Hunter was pronounced dead at the scene due to the extent of his injuries. The Burlington County Medical Examiner’s Office is involved in the investigation, and preliminary findings indicate that this was a tragic accident with no suspicion of foul play. As the incident involved agricultural machinery, OSHA has also been notified and is conducting a review into the equipment failure.

Hunter was widely known and respected throughout the Cinnaminson area. A skilled mechanic and devoted farmer, he had dedicated much of his life to working the land and mentoring younger generations interested in agriculture. He was admired not only for his craftsmanship but for his humility, helpfulness, and unwavering support of his neighbors.

Plans for a memorial service are already underway, with community members organizing a candlelight vigil to be held later this week in remembrance of Hunter’s life and legacy. As messages of support and condolences continue to pour in, his family has asked for privacy as they come to terms with the loss of a beloved father, grandfather, and friend.

John Howard Hunter’s passing leaves behind not only a family in mourning but also a community that will feel his absence for years to come. His life was a testament to hard work, quiet strength, and a deep love for both the land and the people around him.
