Family Identifies Man Who Drowned in Backyard Pool; Investigation Still Ongoing


Hemet, CA — Tragedy struck late Monday night on Cardona Place when a man was found unresponsive in an above-ground pool, later confirmed by family members as Willie Nelson. Despite desperate rescue attempts, including CPR performed at the scene and en route to the hospital, Mr. Nelson was pronounced dead approximately 20 minutes after arriving at medical facilities.

According to relatives, Willie Nelson was last seen sitting at the edge of the pool at a residence where several family members had gathered. Neighbors who witnessed the aftermath reported seeing two individuals fleeing the scene shortly after the incident. One woman was allegedly heard shouting, “Grab the dog and let’s get out of here!” Neighbors suggest that the individuals may have had outstanding warrants and wanted to avoid contact with police. The residence has also been described by locals as a frequent location for drug-related activity, although authorities have not confirmed any link between this and Mr. Nelson’s death.

At this time, no evidence of foul play has been established, and no suspects have been identified or taken into custody. Riverside County Coroner’s officials are conducting a thorough examination to determine the precise cause of death.
