In Loving Memory: Karsyn Wayne Slaydon, 11, Lost in Tragic UTV Rollover in East Texas

The East Texas community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Karsyn Wayne Slaydon, an energetic and joyful 11-year-old whose life was tragically cut short in a UTV rollover accident. The accident occurred earlier this week, and despite the valiant efforts of local firefighters and a nearby nurse who lifted the overturned vehicle to rescue him, Karsyn succumbed to his injuries. A 7-year-old girl riding with him was injured but is expected to recover.

Karsyn was known by family, friends, and neighbors as a bright, spirited, and loving child, whose laughter and curiosity could light up any room. His parents, John and Jodi Slaydon, now face the unimaginable grief of losing a son while caring for their younger daughter. Friends and relatives describe Karsyn as full of life, always ready with a smile or a joke, and someone who had an uncanny ability to bring joy to those around him.

The accident, sudden and tragic, has sent shockwaves through the local community. Neighbors recall Karsyn playing outdoors, riding bikes, and spending time with friends and family. His love for adventure and the outdoors was evident in his boundless energy and eagerness to explore. Community members have expressed their sorrow and support, offering prayers and condolences to the Slaydon family during this devastating time.

To honor Karsyn’s memory, the family has announced visitation and funeral arrangements:

  • Visitation: Monday, September 1, 2025, at 1:00 p.m.

  • Service: Monday, September 1, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.

  • Location: Beech Grove Baptist Church

  • Attire: Blue, in memory of Karsyn

Karsyn’s family encourages friends, community members, and well-wishers to wear blue in remembrance of his vibrant spirit. His parents have also set up a GoFundMe page to help cover funeral expenses and support the family during this tragic period.

In the wake of the accident, local officials have reiterated the importance of UTV safety, highlighting the risks associated with off-road vehicles, especially for young riders. While such safety discussions provide some context, they cannot ease the pain felt by a community mourning a beloved child.

For those who knew him, Karsyn Wayne Slaydon’s memory is more than a tragedy—it is a celebration of a young life lived with love, curiosity, and joy. Friends and family remember him as a son, brother, and friend whose laughter, kindness, and enthusiasm left an indelible mark.

The Slaydon family asks for continued prayers and support as they navigate this unimaginable loss. Karsyn’s spirit, laughter, and light will continue to live on in the hearts of all who loved him.

Rest in peace, Karsyn. You will always be remembered.
