The close-knit community of Horse Cave, Kentucky, is grieving the sudden and heartbreaking loss of 24-year-old Jacob Andrew Gentry, whose life, though short, left a profound mark on all who knew him. Jacob passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 11th, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital, leaving family, friends, and neighbors in deep sorrow.

Jacob was admired for his unwavering work ethic and compassionate nature. As a trusted driver for the Amish community, he played a vital role in ensuring goods and supplies were delivered with reliability and care—qualities that mirrored his dependable and generous spirit. Beyond his professional life, Jacob’s devotion to his faith was evident in his active involvement with Northtown United Baptist Church, where he was known for his sincerity, humility, and willingness to help others.

Family was the center of Jacob’s world. He is survived by his loving mother, Chena Watt, and her partner, Colton Watt; his father, Sammie Gentry; and his stepmother, Ashley Short. His fiancée, Haley Green, shared a deep and loving bond with him, and together they were building a future filled with hope and joy. Jacob was also a proud and devoted father to his two children, Weston Gentry and Haven Gentry, who were the light of his life.

His sisters, Haley Gentry and Shelby Gentry, held a special place in his heart, sharing cherished childhood memories and lifelong companionship. Jacob was also deeply loved by his grandparents, Papaw Ewell and Granny Jewell, whose guidance and pride shaped much of the man he became.

A funeral service to honor Jacob’s life will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, August 14th, in the chapel of Sego Funeral Home, followed by burial at Northtown Cemetery, a place deeply connected to his roots. Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 13th, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., and will resume Thursday morning at 8 a.m. before the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Sego Funeral Home to help cover funeral expenses, offering the community an opportunity to show their love and support during this time of grief.

Though his time on earth was far too brief, Jacob’s life was filled with faith, love, and purpose. His kindness, loyalty, and devotion to family will remain an enduring legacy in the hearts of all who knew him.
