The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim of a fatal crash that occurred Wednesday morning in Canandaigua as Jonathan Stills, a 40-year-old resident of Lima, New York. The tragic accident, which unfolded on State Route 5&20, has left family, friends, and the wider community grieving the sudden loss of a life taken too soon.
According to investigators, Stills was driving a box truck westbound on Route 5&20 when he failed to stop at a red light at the intersection with Hickox Road. His vehicle struck an SUV that was turning onto the highway before crashing into a utility pole and overturning onto its roof. The violent impact trapped Stills inside the truck, and despite swift emergency response, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have confirmed that no additional injuries occurred and that the crash remained contained to the intersection.
The sheriff’s office has stated there is no indication that alcohol or drugs were contributing factors. A comprehensive investigation is underway, with officials reviewing evidence, vehicle data, and witness accounts to determine the precise cause of the collision.
Jonathan Stills is remembered as a hardworking and respected member of the Lima community, whose life ended unexpectedly in this devastating accident. Neighbors and friends have expressed their condolences and support for his family as they navigate this difficult loss.
