At approximately 2:37 a.m., Columbus police received a call reporting shots fired at a residence located in the 7400 block of Kirkdale Drive. The caller indicated they were transporting the injured victim to the hospital themselves. Upon arrival at Mount Carmel East Hospital, Davis was admitted to the trauma unit but was pronounced dead shortly thereafter at 2:55 a.m.

Columbus Police Sergeant Jeff Strayer described the attack as an “apparent ambush,” noting that Davis was shot while seated inside his vehicle after arriving at the location. The circumstances suggest the attack was targeted, though motives remain unclear. Investigators are actively canvassing the neighborhood, seeking witnesses and reviewing any available surveillance footage that might help identify the perpetrator.

This incident marks the 79th homicide in Columbus this year, raising growing concerns about escalating violence within the community.
