Lamont Wiley Tragedy: St. Louis Rapper Dies by Suicide After Public Dispute with Children’s Mother

The St. Louis hip-hop community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of rising artist Lamont Wiley, who tragically died by suicide following a deeply emotional and public conflict with the mother of his children.

Wiley, widely recognized for his song “I Came a Long Way,” was found deceased by local authorities shortly after sharing a series of disturbing and emotionally charged posts across social media platforms. In those final messages, Wiley spoke candidly about his struggles with homelessness, emotional turmoil, and what he described as relentless public humiliation. He accused the mother of his children of belittling him during a live broadcast, despite knowing the fragile emotional state he was in.

The aspiring rapper and devoted father left behind two young children—Makaila and Karson. In a final, devastating message addressed to them, Wiley wrote:

“Sorry Makaila & Karson 💔 Daddy Love Y’all.”

Wiley’s posts painted a picture of a man feeling overwhelmed, defeated, and unheard. He claimed he was carrying the weight of trying to be a present and responsible father while facing constant criticism, financial instability, and lack of support. He felt deeply shamed and ridiculed, not just privately, but in the public eye—something he said cut especially deep.

In one of his final posts, Wiley wrote:

“Mee Mee Living Off EBT CASH, Section 8, Food Stamps (dat she sale for money)… She bash her BDs errr otha day for attention… Tryna make me look bad nshyt… One mfca dat sit up all day err day nd bash, entertain the internet but don’t get paid off it… Gone post dat lame ass shyt ON MY DEAD GRANDMA GRAVE… I lost all respect for you & when I pray fa me, ima add u in it.”

The 20-something-year-old artist, originally from Texarkana, Texas, had relocated to Missouri and was steadily gaining local recognition for his raw lyricism and authenticity. Friends, fellow musicians, and fans alike have taken to social media to honor his memory, sharing how Wiley’s music touched them and gave voice to the struggles many quietly endure.

Authorities confirmed that Wiley died by suicide, having been found hanging with a rope. He was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy is pending.

This tragic incident has reignited conversations about the importance of mental health awareness, especially among men and fathers battling private struggles under public scrutiny.
