Lufkin Man Fatally Shot at Deer Cross Apartments; Suspect Charged with Murder


Lufkin, TX — The Lufkin community is reeling from the tragic death of 45-year-old Joseph Lee Holeman, who was fatally shot at the Deer Cross Apartments on the evening of August 14, 2025. Police found Holeman lying just inside the door of his apartment, while 32-year-old Dean Orlov was located outside the building. Orlov has been charged with murder in connection with the incident.

According to a resident of the complex, Orlov had been harassing people at the apartments prior to the shooting and had attempted to lure women to his apartment.
