Marquette University Mourns Student-Athletes Noah Snyder and Scott Michaud After Tragic Car Accident in Milwaukee


The Marquette University community is reeling after the sudden and tragic deaths of Noah Snyder and Scott Michaud, two student-athletes on the men’s lacrosse team, who lost their lives in a devastating car accident in Milwaukee on Friday, September 5, 2024. Noah, aged 20, and Scott, also a young and talented member of the Marquette lacrosse program, were killed when the vehicle they were traveling in collided with another car near the intersection of 27th Street and St. Paul Avenue at approximately 5 p.m.

According to Milwaukee Police, the crash involved multiple students in Noah and Scott’s vehicle. The impact claimed the lives of Noah and Scott, while four others sustained injuries and were transported to local hospitals. Authorities have confirmed that the driver of the second vehicle, a 41-year-old man, was arrested at the scene, and charges are pending as the investigation continues.

A Legacy on the Lacrosse Field

Noah and Scott were both known for their extraordinary dedication, talent, and leadership in lacrosse. Noah began developing his skills at Westtown School in West Chester, Pennsylvania, under head coach Desiderio Gonzalez, and continued to refine his game at St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute under coach Pete Hudecki. At Marquette, he quickly became a valued member of the men’s lacrosse team, admired for his work ethic, sportsmanship, and the mentorship he provided to younger teammates.

Scott Michaud, equally passionate about lacrosse, shared Noah’s love for the sport and was praised by coaches and peers for his determination, discipline, and infectious enthusiasm. Spaces for community reflection and support will be available from noon to 3 p.m. in the Alumni Memorial Union, providing students, faculty, and community members an opportunity to gather, grieve, and celebrate the lives of the two young athletes.

Noah and Scott’s families expressed deep gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this devastating time. “Noah and Scott brought so much joy, friendship, and inspiration to everyone around them,” a family spokesperson said. “We will cherish their memories and carry their spirit forward in everything we do.”
