Tragedy struck Tuesday afternoon when a man, believed to be in his late middle age or older, suffered a cardiac episode while swimming offshore near the Cherry Grove Fishing Pier. Eyewitnesses reported that fellow beachgoers quickly rushed to assist, pulling the man from the water and initiating CPR efforts immediately upon reaching the shore.
Emergency personnel continued life-saving attempts while transporting the man in the back of a pickup truck, but despite extensive efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Early reports suggest the man’s death may have been the result of cardiac arrest rather than drowning, though investigations are ongoing. Wednesday, August 6 – Woman Pulled From Water Near The Towers
Just a day later, emergency crews responded to a second incident involving a woman who appeared to be drowning near The Towers at North Myrtle Beach. Lifeguards and medical personnel on scene acted swiftly, pulling her from the water and administering emergency treatment.
Thanks to their rapid response, the woman was successfully revived and is expected to recover fully. Medical officials confirmed she showed no signs of neurological damage. City officials praised the actions of those involved and urged beachgoers to remain vigilant when entering the surf.
Wednesday, August 6 – Man Suffers Injury at Ocean Creek
Later that same day, a third water emergency occurred at Ocean Creek, where a man sustained a dislocated knee while in the surf. The injury impaired his ability to stay afloat and required assistance from nearby swimmers and lifeguards to safely return him to shore.
Fortunately, the man was able to recover after receiving care on land and is reported to be in stable condition with no additional complications.

In response to this string of incidents, North Myrtle Beach officials are reminding the public to exercise caution while enjoying the ocean. Visitors are encouraged to swim only in designated areas with lifeguards on duty, stay hydrated, avoid overexertion, and alert beach staff to any discomfort or unusual symptoms while in the water.
