It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Olivia Dejonghe announces her unexpected passing on July 24, 2025, in Calais, France, at the young age of 24.
Olivia was a devoted daughter, sister, partner, friend, and Home Care Assistant who touched the lives of many with her warmth, kindness, and tireless dedication to helping others.
Born and raised in Calais, Olivia embraced life with compassion and energy. Professionally, she worked as an Auxiliaire de Vie (Home Care Assistant), a role in which she found great purpose and pride.
Her work brought comfort and companionship to many elderly and vulnerable individuals. Olivia’s gentle demeanor and genuine care made her a cherished presence in the lives of those she served.
Olivia was also surrounded by a close circle of friends who were like family. Known for her gentle smile, thoughtful heart, and generous spirit, she was someone who made everyone feel welcomed and loved. Whether through her work, family, or friendships, Olivia left a mark on everyone she met.
In addition to her work and family life, Olivia enjoyed simple pleasures—visits to the seaside, time spent with loved ones, and lending a listening ear to those in need. She had a natural ability to connect with people from all walks of life and brought joy to even the most challenging moments.
A religious service in Olivia’s honor will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church in Calais. Friends and family are invited to gather at the church entrance at 9:55 a.m. Following the service, Olivia will be laid to rest in the family vault at Calais South Cemetery, where she will remain close to the people and place she loved most.
Prior to the funeral, Olivia will rest at the Salon Funéraire des 2 Caps “Chopin”, located at 202 Boulevard de l’Égalité in Calais, where visitors are welcomed from Saturday through Tuesday, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The family kindly requests no plaques or artificial flowers, in keeping with Olivia’s appreciation for natural beauty and simplicity.
