The Hamilton community, together with Dunkeld and Glen, is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Mackenzie Rose Mason, affectionately known to many as “Kenz,” who tragically passed away following an accident in Dunkeld. She was just 21 years old.

A Beloved Daughter, Sister, and Friend

Mackenzie’s passing has left an immeasurable void in the lives of her family, teammates, and friends. She was the beloved daughter of Sophia and Tim, and a cherished sister to Morgan, Bailey, and Jasper. Those who knew her speak of her radiant spirit, her kindness, and her remarkable ability to bring people together.

A proud graduate of Monivae College, Mackenzie was celebrated not only for her love of learning but also for her creativity and compassion. She built deep connections in both the classroom and the wider community, always remembered as someone who put others before herself.

A Passion for Sports and Team Spirit

Sport was an important part of Mackenzie’s life, particularly football. She began her junior career with the Roos, where her determination, teamwork, and passion for the game quickly stood out. In 2019, she played a key role in guiding the Under-15 team to their Premiership victory — a milestone still cherished by her teammates and coaches.

In tribute to her memory, her teammates will wear black armbands this Saturday, a moving symbol of unity and remembrance for their dear friend.

Mackenzie was known for her magnetic energy and infectious smile, which could brighten any room. Friends recall her as someone whose laughter was contagious, whose voice often filled spaces with song, and whose presence was always a source of comfort and joy.
