The VW Polo was carrying a single occupant, who sustained minor injuries and received medical attention at the scene. In contrast, the Toyota sedan, which was carrying six individuals of Mozambican origin, suffered catastrophic damage, resulting in multiple fatalities and serious injuries.

Among the occupants of the Toyota:

• The male driver sustained serious injuries and was immediately transported to Groblersdal Hospital for urgent medical care.

• Two adult females and a teenage girl (estimated between 13 and 17 years old) were among those killed in the crash.

• A child (estimated between 5 and 9 years old) and an infant (estimated 0–12 months) also tragically lost their lives.
